Hello Reader Nation,
I keep promising myself that I'm going to do this wedding recap thing, and then I have a hard time sitting down to do it. Because it's just so much. Eric and I have this ongoing debate over which is more human: language or "the feels." I'm on the side of the feels, because sometimes the feels that I have are just so strong and human that there isn't language for them! Eric is on the side of language, and while I promise I am listening very carefully to his descriptions of why, so far I haven't made it beyond understanding that we use language in user manuals. Oh, also in text books. Something about human progress? THE FEELS, you guys.
Now, granted, some people are equipped with the right language to evoke the feelings that I am trying to get at with all of this. So, I'll go ahead and steal... This is from The Social Animal by David Brooks:
"On summer afternoons they’d sit out on the porch in Adirondack chairs and look out over the Fork River and wave at the occasional raft trip going by. He’d sit out on his porch and look at the elementals of nature—sky, water, trees, and sun. … Harold found he could play a little game with himself. He’s sit on the porch and look at a little flower in the grass down below. He’d concentrate on the petals and their fragile beauty. Then, by lifting his head, he’d gaze out at the icy mountain peaks miles and miles away. Suddenly he was swept up in an entirely different set of sensations—feelings of awe, then of veneration, submission and greatness. Just sitting there he could move from the beautiful to the sublime and back again. He loved these grand views. They gave him a feeling of elevation, of being connected to a sacred and all encompassing order, a part of some stupendous whole."
Sums it up nicely. It. Was. A. Lovely. Day.
Here we go!
Fun fact: We got married over Dragon Con weekend, and knew that there would likely be Storm Troopers around. We didn't find any on the wedding day, but Storm was outside conjuring! So, we got our picture made together! I asked her if my face was important, and she said yes, try to make a conjuring face. Alas, we were unsuccessful in conjuring a storm, and the weather was beautiful. #sorrynotsorry
We didn't do a first look, and skipped the cocktail hour to get all of the together photos taken. Which means that the next stop will be the reception, which was oh-so fun! And, as you may have guessed, it's where we are going next!
Until next time,
K
P.S. Love these photos? Not as much as we loved our photographer. Check her out here!
P.P.S. Dear Readers, if you have made it this far, you are probably named either David or Leslie. If you have one of those names, or another name, will you tell me what topics you have particularly enjoyed, that I should revisit? Or something new that you'd like me to explore? The harvest time is coming to an end and I'm starting to generate ideas for the off-season. Leave it in the comments! :)
